“Computing Across the Sciences” – Mini-Semester is a four-half-day workshop to immerse prospective undergraduate internship applicants in skill-building activities. The primary goal is to help students start to build coding and programming skills and with completion of competitive SULI and CCI internship applications for summer 2024. Mini-Semester will be held virtually on Zoom from Tuesday, December 12 through Friday, December 15, 2023.
Mini-Semester is open to all undergraduate students in STEM, however, our target demographic is students who identify as part of an underrepresented group (URG) in STEM.
On Thursday, December 14 from 10:00 – 11:50 AM CT, the UCP Team will hold a “speed networking” session. During this, we are looking for a wide variety of researchers from across the laboratory to “meet and greet” with students during rotating breakout sessions. We’re looking for researchers to discuss their work and prospective projects for interns during the summer 2024 internship session. We’d also like for researchers to chat with students about their interests and goals as well. Details regarding the logistics of the breakout room sessions will be provided upon confirmation of registration, a bit closer to the event.
Researchers who intend to select SULI, CCI, and SIP students during the summer 2024 internship season are preferred.
