Volunteer: Volunteers needed to teach (virtually and/or in-person) Math to Chicago Students in 5th-12th gradeSeeking Teachers andVolunteers! Are you a postdoc, graduate or undergraduate student in mathematics? A math professor? Previously earned a math degree? Teach math in school? Work in a math related field? Math Circles of Chicago needs you! Math Circles of Chicago provides free, unique math enrichment programs for 5th–12th grade students of diverse backgrounds. Through fun and exciting math experiences, we are committed to helping children develop a passion for mathematics. Come work with 5th to 12th graders in Chicago who are interested in doing novel, mathematics. Have fun doing it. We serve more than 1,000 children in locations throughout the city and online, and we will be growing to more sites in the upcoming years. How can you participate? Lead teacher: We pay our teachers $100 per session to teach a session. (You can, of course, choose not to be paid). Assist: Volunteer to help the lead teacher in each classroom. We like to have adults in the room to ask good questions and encourage exploration. Online assistants frequently work with small groups of 3-5 students in breakout rooms. We hold sessions on Saturdays at UChicago, Payton HS, Back of the Yards HS, on Tuesdays at St. Therese Chinese Catholic School, and on Thursdays at Lane Tech HS.We hold on-line sessions on Thursdays and Saturdays. We also run sessions at community centers, homeless shelters, in local after school programs, and in partnership with other STEM programs.
